Hiking
The mountains, sea and river make Omiš a paradise for hiking
Omiš is surrounded by impressive scenery; the mountains, Adriatic sea and the Cetina River all meet here, truly making the area a hiker’s paradise. One of our favourite hikes starts in Omiš and ends in Duće. You’ll pass through Naklice and Gospa Sniježna. It takes approx. 3h to complete and is rated moderate. Starting in Omiš, you will need to cross the bridge heading towards Split.
Once on the other side you will make a right hand turn and follow the road along the river up to the Licina campground. From there, continue straight until you find the beginning of the trail. The rocky trail is partially shaded and travels through a small valley opposite the Fortica fortress. As you gain elevation, the views of Omiš and the Cetina River are stunning.

Climbing higher, you’ll soon reach the village of Naklice with its narrow streets and cute cafes. Make your way through the village and before reaching the end of the village you will need to turn left in order to find the trail heading back downhill. Once you reach the small stream you should continue across it using the small rocks. On the other side of the stream, the trail leads up to the Gospa (church). With a little more effort you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the coastline and Brač island.
After a well deserved break enjoying the scenery, you can return via the way you just came up, or continue down the other side of the mountain towards the sea. We definitely recommend the latter. The views are breathtaking as you overlook the seaside towns and Brač island. As there are no hiking signs, you will need to follow the exposed trail towards the sea.

When you pass a modern church and cemetery after about an hour, you should see the first houses in the village of Duće. While meandering among houses and narrow streets, you will eventually join the main coastal road near the Villa Lidija and the “Turist biro”. The bus stop is just a few hundred meters away where you can catch the bus back to Omiš. Look for bus 60 and ride for four stops.
Things to note:
- Proper walking or hiking shoes are highly recommended
- Bring a small backpack with enough water and snacks for the hike
- Wear a hat, sunglasses and sun protection, as there are some exposed areas on the trail
- Grab a map from the tourist office before you depart
